My work present people, private moments, conversations, and events that punctuate the rhythm of my daily existence. The settings and characters are metaphorical in nature, and exist in a space born from direct observation and memory.  Play is balanced by the presence of a darker more serious reality. It is from this duality that these narratives unfold.

Bright color, bold composition, and pattern are the founders of my process.  I capture imagery from a wide variety of sources ranging from medieval illuminated manuscripts, to the hooked rug designs of Marguerite Zorach. My compositions are influenced by a rich history of Americana and folk art including hooked rugs, early American needlepoint samplers, and vernacular paintings.
